Have you ever wondered what else was happening in Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’?
Thanks to the power of Photoshop and a little creativity now you see what painters chose not to include.
Yarin Gal, a PhD student from Cambridge University uses Photoshop’s content aware fill tool to expand the world’s most famous paintings, including ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa‘ by Hokusai, ‘Starry Night’ and ‘The Sower’ by Van Gogh.
Gal’s extrapolation of Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ won him second prize in the 2014, University of Cambridge, Department of Engineering photo competition.
You can check out more examples of extrapolated art on his website.
